Earth Engine is a data analysis and visualisation platform built at Google scale. It provides easy access to massive computing infrastructure, coupled with a catalog of more than 50PB of satellite and remote sensing data, enabling thousands of users from around the world to measure, monitor and map the environment at a planetary scale.

Session 1, EE-101: A hands-on introduction to Google Earth Engine
This session will start with an overview presentation of “What Is Earth Engine”, followed by a hands-on workshop that takes participants through the basics of getting up and running with Earth Engine. You will learn how to perform complex, large-scale tasks such as time-series compositing and supervised classification using the Earth Engine API and interactive development environment.
If you’ve never attended an Earth Engine Workshop or if you’re new to using Earth Engine, this is the session for you.
Session 2, EE-102: Multi-temporal Classification and Sensor Fusion
This session will expand on the morning’s introduction with a deeper dive into topics such as optical and radar data fusion and multi-temporal compositing and classification. This session requires prior Earth Engine experience, but is suitable for anyone that’s already taken the 101 session.
Before the workshop, Noel Gorelick* from Google will give a seminar on
Google Earth Engine: Planetary scale analysis for societal benefit.
The talk will take place at 15:00 on Tuesday, September 27.

*Noel Gorelick is a scientist and software engineer in the field of satellite image processing and large-scale data analysis. In addition to working at Google for more than 15 years, he previously worked on 7 NASA spacecraft missions to the Moon, Mars, and Saturn. Noel is one of the founders of Google Earth Engine, a planetary-scale data analysis platform, and his current mission is to help scientists, governments, and NGOs use it to address some of society’s biggest challenges like drought, disaster, disease, and deforestation.
