AI4ER seminar series – May 28, 2024

The AI4ER seminar series is taking a break for a couple of weeks to accommodate for our Annual Showcase on 21 May. We will return on 28 May at 16.00 with a talk from Dr Ernani Choma, Research Associate in Environmental Health at the School of Public Health, Harvard University.

Talk title: The role of AI in decision-making about air pollution emission control decisions

Abstract: Ambient fine particulate matter air pollution exposure is the leading environmental health risk factor, responsible for several million deaths per year globally. A very large number of sources contribute to this ambient air pollution, and decisions to control sources need to consider the trade-offs between source control costs and health benefits. Here, we look at how health risks from air pollution are estimated and used to inform decisions about emission controls, with an example about vehicle emissions, and begin to explore what opportunities might exist for AI to improve decision-making about air pollution controls in the future.

Please join us in the Drum building, Bullard Labs, Madingley Rise, CB3 0EZ,  from 16.00 -17.00 on Tuesday 28 May or online.
